Personally I like the Kindle DX even if it is not as portable as the Kindle 2 – but you either buy an e-book reader for the portability or the readability.

I got a Kindle for the holidays as well, and like you, I am thoroughly pleased with it. I read "Under The Dome", and even a huge book like that - which I would read for a few hours at a time - did not bother me to read. The one thing that really sold me over actual books is the comfort of reading I get with the Kindle. I generally read in bed at night, and I would wind up contorted in some weird attempt to get comfortable with a book, while trying to hold the pages open, and also be in a position to turn pages. With just a chiclet click, the Kindle is much more comfortable to read.

In all, I agree mostly with your review. I was afraid I would be underwhelmed, but it has become one of the better pieces of technology I own.

Will the global Kindle allow for access to the American or International store, or will it just allow for non-American Kindles to access the internet and the local Kindle store?

Also, Gordon, I'm not sure how it would work, but what if you bought an American Kindle? Would you have access to the US store then, or would it go based on the IP you'd have to connect with and only let you order from the UK store that doesn't have the literature you want?

Is there a way to get a UK Kindle that has access to the different store? Maybe use an American credit card or other kind of bypass?

There has to be a way!

I've heard in the CES updates these last few days that a global kindle should be coming soon. Shouldn't have to wait much longer!

Reading reviews of the Kindle just makes me want one so much more :( We can get them here in the UK but, as I said on a previous post of yours, we have problems with publishing laws which means the selection of books available is very, very limited.

Because of the terrible availablity, the Kindle has been slated in the UK by the press which is a real shame. Understandable though - what's the point of having a eReader if there's nothing to read!

I can only hope that the publishing issues get sorted out and we're allowed access to the US library. I'd then buy a Kindle in a heart beat.
