I keep meaning to casually watch Parks and Rec, but every time I am around when it's actually airing, my mind wanders, I get up to get a sandwich or go to the bathroom or something equally inane, and forget it was ever on. But those first few minutes before the title credits are generally very funny!

My wife and I also love Joel McHale, but we just couldn't get into Community. We have been becoming bigger Parks and Recreation fans, though. That show grows on you.

I feel that way about shows, too. I always want to get in on the ground floor of new series and follow them, but most of the ones I love are the unpopular ones that get cancelled. I loved The Dresden Files on SyFy, but it was canned. Same goes for Carnivale on HBO, and now (probably and unfortunately) Dollhouse.

The biggest surprise that it didn't get cancelled, though, was Eureka. I love it, but I never expected it to last as long as it has.

I have to say SGU made my night. It's now on my DVR along with a few of the other series you mentioned (Fringe and Flash Forward).
I missed the beginning of Flash Forward but seems like it can be really great (must be the lostie in me).

My biggest problem with getting into new shows is the ones I usually really like get cancelled (The Unusuals and Primeval are the most recent).
