The X-Files Minireviews: S3x21 to S4x02

A friend on Twitter opened my eyes to the idea of minireviews about TV shows. I love reading his Buffy the Vampire Slayer reviews in my Twitter feed, so I figured that since I was working my way through The X-Files, I would post a sub-140 character review of each episode as I finish them. I wish that I had been keeping up with this from the beginning, but alas, I have not, so we begin this undertaking somewhere near the end of Season 3.

I thought that those of you who don’t follow me on Twitter might get a kick out of it as well, so periodically, I will collect a handful of these minireviews and toss them up here to document my progress through the series and my thoughts on it. I am contemplating doing this with Stargate SG-1 as well, so keep an eye out.

X-Files S3x21 – “Avatar” – Walter Skinner finally went from merely an interesting character to an entirely sympathetic one.

X-Files S3x22 – “Quagmire” – Fantastic extended metaphor regarding similarities between Mulder and Captain Ahab at ~32 minutes in.

X-Files S3x23 – “Wetwired” – Still not a fan of Mulder’s new informant. TV-based mind control is great self-aware commentary

X-Files S3x24 – “Talitha Cumi” – Feels like #LOST in that more questions are asked than answered. Mythology is getting convoluted.

X-Files S4x01 – “Herrenvolk” – X gone = good news. Great Mulder/Scully convo in the hospital. I want to know more about the ABH.

X-Files S4x02 – “Home” – One of the few legitimately creepy episodes so far. Love the foreshadowing of Mulder calling Scully “mom.”

Ah, great idea! I will do the same for Star Trek: Enterprise :D

  2. Cool idea! I am now thinking of doing some mini-reviews for "Lost"… (yah, I'm SURE no one else is doing THAT! /roll eyes :) lol)

  3. Hey, that's the awesome thing about stuff like this. Even if someone else is doing it, they won't have the same perspective on the show you will, so your mini-reviews would be unique. Go for it; I'm a huge LOST nut.

  4. I tried and tried to stay away from "Lost" because I knew I would be hooked, and of course I was once I gave in ;) Watching all the back episodes now, definitely getting more twisted as time goes by!

Thanks for the encouragement, I think I will give it a try ;)
