I can see that.

I did like his portrayal of Draco, too. The entire cast got the feeling of desperation in the film, which I think it was one of its strongest suits. My only problem with Tom Felton was that he appeared too gaunt to me. He looked a little less handsome than Draco should have because it was like he was that thin just to be able to cut that figure.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I do have MAJOR kudos to Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy. He has managed to changed the character from the "annoying" childish antagonist, to a truly conflicted character. He was AMAZING in HBP.

Reposted, was signed in as Lib:
I just didn't like it. It felt like they tried to give it a cross between a murder mystery atmosphere and a teen drama. Harry goes out to do something insanely dangerous, just to come back and have Ron perform some slapstick type humor. There was just no click.

The biggest thing that bothered me, is it felt like almost all character progression happened completely separate from plot progression, unlike the other movies (I've never read the books) where character development was due to the plot at hand. Instead all plot progression was dealt with in the mystery's light, while character was in the teen drama section. It didn't feel like there was any cohesion. Almost as if you are watching two different movies and just changing the channel between them during the boring parts.

Another thing, is it felt like Harry and "the gang" were out of character. In any other of the movies, if they had found an item of unusual origin (in this case, the potions book) that would immediately launch an investigation, and no lack of information would stop them from searching. In the movie they almost completely ignore it, then just have the answer given to them in the end.

As a movie, I just don't think it meshes well with the others. As a Harry Potter movie, it looks to have done very well. We took a Harry Potter fan with us when we watched it, and she loved it. Which as far as I am concerned, making the "true fans" (I hate that term, but you know what I mean) come first should be what is important.

Great review. The movie sounds good! I'll need to check it out.

Blowing Transformers 2 out of the water probably isn't too difficult to do though right :D
